1. Why do your eyes not sleep as if
Their lids were lined with kohl of armod?

2. Grieving for Al-Mahdi who lies ill
O best of those who tread the pebbles, do not go far

3. My side shelters you with dust - would that
I were buried before you in Baqi' Al-Gharqad

4. By my father and mother, he whose death
I witnessed on Monday - the guided Prophet

5. After his death I remained downcast
Oh my eager soul, would that I had not been born

6. Shall I stay in Medina among them after you
Oh would that I had greeted morning with poison

7. Or Allah's command had come upon us suddenly
In a moment of our day or on the morrow

8. Then our time would come and we would meet in goodness
Pure, his principles noble and rightly guided

9. O Bakr daughter of Amina, blessed is his mention
She who bore you virtuously, in Saad the most fortunate

10. A light that illuminated all creation
Whoever is guided to the blessed light will be guided

11. O Lord, gather us and our Prophet together
In a Garden that will delight the envious

12. In the Garden of Firdaws, decree it for us
O Possessor of Majesty and Highness and Eternity

13. By Allah, whenever I hear of a calamity
I weep for the Prophet Muhammad

14. Oh woe to the Ansar and companions of the Prophet
After the absent one, in the barren wasteland

15. The lands have narrowed for the Ansar and they have become
Black-faced, the color of dark night

16. We bore him and his grave is among us
And we do not deny the overflowing of his blessings upon us

17. By him Allah honored us and by him guided us
The Ansar, at every witnessed moment

18. May Allah pray upon him and those who orbit his throne
And the virtuous ones, upon the blessed Ahmad

19. The Christians and Jews of Yathrib rejoiced
When he was buried in the sealed tomb
