1. I call upon Uthman ibn Talha, our oaths were shattered,
The stars' paths for him were inauspicious omens,
١. أَنشُدُ عُثمانَ بِنَ طَلحَةَ حلفَنا
طَلقُ النُجومِ لَدَيهِ كَالنَحسِ
2. No pact the fathers tied was like his undoing,
None like Khalid violated such a bond,
٢. وَما عَقَدَ الآباءُ مِن كُلِّ حِلفَةِ
وَما خالِدٌ مِن مِثلَها بِمُحَلَّلِ
3. Do not feel safe with Khalid after this,
Uthman came with shaded spears brandished.
٣. فَلا تَأمَنَنَّ خالِداً بَعدَ هَذِهِ
وَعُثمانُ جاءَ بِالدُهَيمِ المعَظَّلِ
