1. I wondered at this visitor watching
And tempting with ease after avoiding
١. عَجِبتُ لِهاذا الزائِرِ المُتَرَقِّبِ
وَإِدلالِهِ بِالصَرمِ بَعدَ التَجَنُّبِ
2. I see a bird I pitied for its troubles
If they betray, do as you wish and worry
٢. أَرى طائِراً أَشفَقتُ مِن نَعَباتِهِ
فَإِن فارَقوا غَدراً فَما شِئتَ فَاِنعَبِ
3. In every house you knew
Your eyes shed tears that flow
٣. إِذا لَم يَزَل في كُلِّ دارٍ عَرَفتَها
لَها ذارِفٌ مِن دَمعِ عَينَيكَ يَذهَبِ
4. Love still calls me, leading
Till my friends said, ride!
٤. فَمازالَ يَستَنعي الهَوى وَيَقودُني
بِحَبلَينِ حَتّى قالَ صَحبي أَلا اِركَبِ
5. One seeking her favor grew cold
As transmitters increased to prevail
٥. وَقَد رَغِبَت عَن شاعِرَيها مُجاشِعٌ
وَماشِئتَ فاشوا مِن رُواةٍ لِتَغلِبِ
6. The living dawn knows we
Whenever asked, let's ride, knights!
٦. لَقَد عَلِمَ الحَيُّ المُصَبَّحُ أَنَّنا
مَتى ما يُقَل يا لِلفَوارِسِ نَركَبِ
7. You tasked your pigs with plenty
Beyond flood plains, no sin in that
٧. أَكَلَّفتَ خِنزيرَيكَ حَومَةَ زاخِرٍ
بَعيدِ سَواقِ السَيلِ لَيسَ بِمُذنِبِ
8. You matched the crucifers with a paralytic
Severing the necks of steeds unruly
٨. قَرَنتُم بَني ذاتِ الصَليبِ بِفالِجٍ
قَطوعٍ لِأَعناقِ القَرائِنِ مِشغَبِ
9. Why not seek a vanishing track
Beyond galloping, or an untested seer
٩. فَهَلّا اِلتَمَستُم فانِياً غَيرَ مُعقِبٍ
عَنِ الرَكضِ أَو ذا نَبوَةٍ لَم يُجَرَّبِ
10. When you shoot my protective clan
Every fangs' path is unassailable
١٠. إِذا رُمتَ في حَيِي خُزَيمَةَ عِزَّنا
سَما كُلُّ صَرّيفِ السَنانَينِ مُصعَبِ
11. See my people in the city and those
Who camp in al-Batha by al-Muhassab
١١. أَلَم تَرَ قَومي بِالمَدينَةِ مِنهُمُ
وَمَن يَنزِلُ البَطحاءَ عِندَ المُحَصَّبِ
12. Ours is the Prophet's pond and ours
In al-Namman, the martyr's, no secret
١٢. لَنا فارِطا حَوضِ الرَسولِ وَحَوضُنا
بِنَعمانِ وَالأَشهادُ لَيسَ بِغُيَّبِ
13. No pig found deeds like ours
Nor ponds like ours, a collecting place
١٣. فَما وَجَدَ الخِنزيرُ مِثلَ فِعالِنا
وَلا مِثلَ حَوضَينا جِبايَةَ مُجتَبي
14. Kais let you taste humiliation and smashed
Your homes in abasement and destruction
١٤. وَقَيسٌ أَذاقوكَ الهَوانَ وَقَوَّضوا
بُيوتَكُمُ في دارِ ذُلٍّ وَمَحرَبِ
15. Our knights are Kais' descent, as though
When war comes, swords unsheathed
١٥. فَوارِسُنا مِن صُلبِ قَيسٍ كَأَنَّهُم
إِذا بارَزوا حَرباً أَسِنَّةُ صُلَّبِ
16. Al-Jahhaf slew brides
Short of valleys, evil withdrawals
١٦. لَقَد قَتَلَ الجَحّافُ أَزواجَ نِسوَةٍ
قِصارَ الهَوادي سَيِّئاتِ التَحَوُّبِ
17. They wipe, O aromatic ones, at every pact
We got no offering made pure
١٧. يُمَسِّحنَ يا رُخمانُ في كُلِّ بيعَةٍ
وَما نِلنَ مِن قُربانِهِنَّ المُقَرَّبِ
18. For you, O pig, surpass saying
Rabi'a and a Tameem measure believable
١٨. فَإِنَّكَ يا خِنزيرَ تَغلِبَ إِن تَقُل
رَبيعَةُ وَزنٌ مِن تَميمٍ تُكَذَّبِ
19. Abu Malik, the clan has favor over you
So eat dog excrement and drink!
١٩. أَبا مالِكٍ لِلحَيِّ فَضلٌ عَلَيكُمُ
فَكُل مِن خَنانيصِ الكُناسَةِ وَاِشرَبِ
