How can a slave be proud when his mother is from Taghlib,

24. Whose fangs turned green from eating pigs.
Thick-skinned, protected

25. On the nose of a pig, tightening its muzzle.
I burdened the breaths of Taghlib with anguish,

26. Forcefully binding their skin and noses.
I ignited my fire with iron, so it became

27. Divided among the oppressors as a punishment.
The one with protruding teeth, I split his lip with a blow,

28. On the nose or the eyebrows, hitting its wound.
O father of Malik, there is no escape for Taghlib

29. When the seas of glory gush with its floods.
When the houses of Qais and Khindif descend upon my house,

30. You will meet strongholds whose gates were never opened.
Allah gave Qais and Khindif such treasures

31. Whose doors were not opened for Taghlib.
And from us is truly the Messenger of Allah, and

32. For us is the belly of Bat’ha and its domes.
