1. The eagles have forgiven you after your absence, while the lonely one has nothing new left for his grandmother.

7. They traversed the abodes and the ruins to reach you, though your need from the ruins is far.
I looked from Rusafah, where is the pebble and sand between their people, and destruction?

8. There the cattle are taken for sacrifice when adorned, like watchmen over them at Herat for the feast.
As if the slippered, though they are estrays, the lost one’s stick hits the ice.

9. The pregnant camels have reached the end of pregnancy, and the unborn offspring have perished.
We spend the day composed when it darkens, and we travel while the small cats are diminutive sluggards.

10. How many plateaus beyond you were we tasked with, which the about-to-calve camels cross sluggishly!
When they reach the resting places, they are not tethered, and they have fetters due to prolonged barrenness.

11. I know that your permission is success, and that if I reach you I will be fortunate.
Favors from you begin upon us, and if we return, your benefaction will be repeated.

12. You increase life’s love for me, and any mention from your affections is praiseworthy.
If Allah had favored a people, the caliphate and covenants would have been devoted to you.

13. In time, in Quraysh was established for you the greatest resolution and loftiness.
Hisham, sovereign rule and the purest wisdom, thrive when you descend upon the plain.

14. Your favor spreads across the wilderness, and the lions cower in fear of you.
If the misguided opposed you, the fate of Thamud befell them.

15. As for those who obeyed you, they are content, and the obstinate submit in shackles.
You seize the opportunity, then proceed when the armies crowd at war.

16. For you I have loyalty and gratitude, to praise that comforts the composer.
The House of Marwan, your lineage is one of high standing, and ‘Aisha the Blessed, fertile.

17. Hisham and Mughira and Walid bequeathed to you generosity among Quraysh.
From the House of Mughira were established feats, and from the House of ‘Ays were honor and munificence.

18. From Dhubyan for you a structure was completed, upon a lofty elevated foundation.
If the outstanding feats of every clan were milked, you excelled, renewed of attribute.

19. So may Allah increase your sovereignty to perfection, bounty and plenty are from Allah.
O son of the two most honorable, when you are attributed lineage, and numbered among the two lineages.

20. You have channeled from the Euphrates blessed maidens, reaching as you desire.
The mountains were subjugated and fell silent, as the iron is cut into their passes.

21. You attained tranquility, so you said: “Thanks,” there the obstinate mountain yielded.
There the olive trees are shaded and the grape vines slope, so they are black clusters.

22. The gardens of worldly life were completed in tranquility, so the envious said: “It is eternity!”
When they see them as orchards flanked by crops, they bite their fingers.

23. With varieties of fruit and palm trees that bear ripe bunches of dates when laden.
Every victory and well-being that comes with news congratulated the Caliph.

24. We were content that your sword is abundant, and that you ward off our sanctities.
You are the protectors at every frontier, when the hired arms are confused.

25. You seize the opportunity, then proceed when the armies crowd at war.
For you I have loyalty and gratitude, to praise that comforts the composer.
