1. Who can we blame for this misfortune that has befallen us,
After the noble chief Sāwādah, son of Kilāb,
١. مَن ذا نُحَمِّلُ حاجَةً نَزَلَت بِنا
بَعدَ الأَغَرِّ سَوادَةَ بنِ كِلابِ
2. The grace of councils and horsemen, upon whom
The virtues of nobility were established.
٢. زَينُ المَجالِسِ وَالفَوارِسِ وَالَّذي
بُنِيَت عَلَيهِ مَكارِمُ الأَحسابِ
