And no pact is like your pact, O Imam

4. You wished for success and sneakily attained

And Sulaiman's land was heaped with mountains

Yet you didn't moan in the evening, O dove

7. Collared, it sings on a branch
If I say "straighten," it straightens accordingly

8. May God water Al-Basham and every land
That sprouted basham from the two cliffs

9. I love the abodes from the plateaus of Ghaul
And I don't forget Dhuriyah or the Rijam

10. It's as if you've never traveled south of Qaw
And didn't recognize the Bani Nazirah camps

11. I recognized dwellings in the barren land of Qaw
Where I shed copious tears

12. And traces in the lasting dwellings
Where the firewood had left them obscure

13. I stood at the abodes, so it reminded me
Of pacts from Ju'adah or Qatam

14. Ju'adah are camels that don't bid farewell
I love the departing ones and those who stayed

15. So I said to my companions, who were rushing
In Dhi Baqr, "Won't you deviate O peace?"

16. "Pray the late morning prayer, and escort me
For upon you is my reins"

17. But they said, "Nothing makes us deviate with you
If you don't meet them but to lead"

18. Camels came to you from the highlands
Cutting through the deserts and servants

19. If only Al-'Ays had cut them off with a troop
Stopping or cutting us off with fasting

20. It's as if our poetry roused against
Khabt or its buzzing of bees

21. Playing with evidence is the mother of fear
If they pass, their shadows envelop them

22. Fluttering, she resembles when
The water fountains flow and darkness returns

23. You see the desert caravans when the highlands
Cover them, their pace penetrating

24. When its dugongs rise at its brightness
You'd think its pastures a standing fortress

25. I stay up watching every star
Bearing my anxiety and covering up

26. For years that wore out my youth
After its strength decayed my bones

27. I walked with a staff and my hunching back
And bid farewell to mounts and reins

28. How can I not fasten the ropes of departure
Yearning to visit you, my beloved

29. Of the lineage of the Mahra among champions
Flying over their rutted camels

30. And recognizing their necks as slender
While their icons have joined together

31. As if cotton on their nostrils
Flying while they wrap themselves up

32. The Commander of the Faithful judged with justice
Made permitted what's permitted, avoided sin

33. May God complete His blessings upon you
And increase your kingdom entirely

34. And bless your journey, however it goes
And bless your standings, wherever you stand

35. By the right of the fearful refugee
If he stays the night holding to your rope

36. So O Lord of creation, grant thanks
And well-being, and keep Hisham for us

37. And make us successful when we reach
The just imam and noble king

38. God's grace made you rule the Christians
And whoever prays to His direction and fasts

39. You give well-being when obeyed
But the disobedient met with fines

40. Your father was known by Mu'ad
To relieve them of great sorrows

41. And they found you the most generous ancestors
When ascribed and the firmest in status

42. And you take precaution when striking with Mu'alla
From reputation, shoulders, and insignia

43. To al-Mahdi we flee if we panic
And seek shade in his clouds

44. He made neither the planets nor Suhail
Like the moon's light traversing the darkness

45. God's rope, its strength protects you
So don't fear its cord will snap

46. He anguishes whom you left, never addressing
While he congratulates those you speak to

47. We accepted the Caliph when we
Were followers of him, and he was imam for us

48. The countries assumed your rule
Establishing for us duties and straightness

49. My feathers are from you, and my love is in you
Though visiting you was only to lead

50. You avoided death's strike
You were greeted with greetings and peace

51. The Bedouins knew from Quraysh
And from Qays, their honored dwellings

52. An-Numak slept you, and Abd Shams
To the Most High, so your honor cannot be envied

53. The undying's swords broke white
Upon the enemies, in dispute and anxiety

54. The Bani Mughirah's sword never fell short
The swords of God crushed the people

55. I saw the trebuchet when it hit
The buildings of blasphemy, it collapsed the bricks
