1. I grew weary of reproaching continuously,
And gray hair has now inherited youth.

2. The raging winds have become harbingers
To a land on which clouds have alighted.

3. You made our absence permissible for a nothing,
Though we did not approve being absent from you.

4. A coquette whose cheeks are not soft,
And who does not flirt with her neighbor.

5. The land becomes fragrant when it descends upon a land,
And is watered when showers descend upon it.

6. As if musk were mixed in it
With rain water dispelling particles.

7. Will you not reward me, while worries of my soul,
With your remembrance, have prolonged its depression?

8. I was watered with rain where you avoided us,
Thus we do not wish for other water-drawers.

9. Is this stinginess your provision for avoiding a house?
If only love were your provision for drawing near!

10. The friend fell asleep and my night grew long
Due to love of you− I did not spend it wakefully.

11. I see estrangement innovating every day
Sorrow in my heart when I shun you.

12. One who is in the sand dunes, a friend of mine,
Sees me− if I am struck, he is the one struck.

13. Happy with our coming to him,
A helper who does not like our returning.

14. Al-Hajjaj invoked like Noah's invocation,
So the Lord of the Ascending Stairways responded.

15. You have been patient, O son of Abu ʿAqil,
Preservingly− so how do you see the reward?

16. Had your Lord not been pleased, He would not have sent down
The angels of wrath with victory.

17. When the Caliph kindles the fire of war,
He will see Al-Hajjaj as its fiercest ember.

18. You will see the victory of the Imam over you as truth
If they don the garb of doubt.

19. It secures, so do not deny it on the day of march
When the billows shake the mountain-peaks.

20. You healed from the devils of Iraq,
And they became submitting their necks to you.

21. They said, "No commander will assemble with us
Who implements the law and follows the Book."

22. When they take− and their plot is weak−
At a door they conspire, so you opened a door.

23. Al-Ashmaṭ stumbled about in his blindness,
You made the gray hair of his beard dyed.

24. When your ropes are tied to the rope of a rebel,
The rebel sees death drawing near.

25. That the sword has no repelling
When it bares the vitals from cover.

26. As if you had seen vanguards
At China's wall− they erected domes.

27. You made for each apprehensive terrified one
Ranked soldiers, fortifying him with battalions.
