Rain clouds pouring, drenching the land

1. Rain clouds pouring, drenching the land
Spreading over the earth, flowing and rolling

2. Bringing out the grass when it is revived
And covering it when it shrivels and folds

3. You see the young gazelles nimble and adept
Their supple legs brisk, never tiring or weary

4. And you see the trees in their lushness
Like cut-off heads around which turbans were tied

5. An hour it rains heavily upon them
Falling in torrents, continuous and abundant

6. Then the east wind passes blowing upon them
Followed by a south wind, bursting and gusting

7. Swelling until, for one seeking shelter,
The breadth of a tent is too narrow to house him

8. It has set out at dawn, carrying me in its nose,
Following behind the two encampments, woven and braided
