1. Sulayma wished that I would settle in her land
And I, for Sulayma and her love, wished what she wished
١. تَمَنَّت سُلَيمى أَن أُقيمَ بِأَرضِها
وأنّي لِسَلمى وَيبَها ما تَمَنَّتِ
2. Oh would that I knew, shall I visit while fleeing
After drinking the water of Al-Ghwad and climbing its heights?
٢. أَلا لَيتَ شِعري هَل أَزورَنَّ ساجِراً
وَقَد رَوِيَت ماءَ الغَوادي وَعَلَّتِ
3. O Bani Asad, is there any affection in you
That you may pardon, if my sandal strap loosened?
٣. بَني أَسدِ هَل فيكُم مِن هَوادَةٍ
فَتَعفوا لَو إِن كانَت بيَ النَعلُ زَلَّتِ
