1. Forgive your friend, O Abul Abbās
With steps that honor him and console

2. If he comes to you for help in his need
As the brother of the ill came to borrow clothing

3. And listen to him with the lute that gives him company
You remain the Lord of bounty and grace

4. Until with treatment you balance his temperament
And see him in health, no harm upon him
