1. Every order tends towards disorder
This world is no place for staying

2. We are but travelers, and our days
Are stages, their goal departing

3. No king remains, nor any leader
To God belongs all permanence

4. Obedience to Him is best for those
Whom pleasures tempt to moral straying

5. Happy he who shall wear its robe
And trail its hem on Judgment Day

6. As one whose grave is watered here
By mercy's rain from clouds arrayed

7. Grandson of leading kings whose fame
For feats of arms cannot decay

8. Though raised so high, he bowed his wings
To saints and sages on his way

9. Revering the Prophet's family,
Paying respect to all men of grace

10. Aligned with Shadhili, whose line
Gave saints from first to final day

11. Feeling the call to God's abode
He answered: Here I stand and pray

12. With pure attestment of God's oneness
The key to gardens where angels play

13. Seeing what his Master had prepared
Of mighty gifts along his way

14. He loved to meet Him, so his date
Reads: Muhammad loved the call to stay
