1. Awaken, O you deluded by life, for the horizon has cleared,
With abundance of kinship and overflowing security.
١. أَفِق أيّها المغرورُ بِالعيش قَد صفا
وَبالشملِ مَوفوراً وَبالأمنِ قَد ضفا
2. The destroyer of pleasures remains not for the youth,
And life has no pleasure while on the brink.
٢. فَما هادمُ اللذّاتِ مبقٍ على فتى
وَلا لذّةٌ للعيشِ وَهو على شَفا
3. Hopes expanded in the straitness of living,
Yet lifetimes hastened therein out of fear.
٣. تَبسّطتِ الآمالُ في ضيقِ عيشةٍ
تَسارَعت الآجالُ فيها تخوّفا
4. Desires depart only suddenly,
And souls are seized only abruptly.
٤. فَلا تتركَ الأهواءُ إلّا فَجاءةً
وَلا تُنزعُ الأرواحُ إلّا تَخطّفا
5. Can one be fooled by hopes when his fate
Is the fate of one the dust and stones have gathered?
٥. أَيُخدعُ بِالآمالِ مرءٌ مصيرهُ
مَصيرُ الّذي قَد ضمّ ذا الترب والصفا
6. Descendant of the honorable house of the Beyramis,
Stars of guidance in the firmaments without concealment.
٦. سَليلُ القرومِ الغرِّ مِن آل بيرمٍ
نُجومُ الهدى في الخافقينِ بلا خفا
7. He assumed leadership in the prime of glory,
May God protect him, however mighty and noble.
٧. تَقبّل من بحبوحةِ المجدِ محتداً
لَه اللّه واقٍ ما أعزّ وأشرفا
8. And he exerted himself for the goals of virtues,
Thus he became therein a source of pride, adorned.
٨. وَأَجرى لِغاياتِ المكارمِ جهدهُ
فَأَصبحَ فيها متلدَ الفخرِ مطرفا
9. Indeed he was of astute, graceful opinion and speech,
Experienced with the times and adept in management.
٩. لَقَد كانَ ذا رأيٍ حصيفٍ ومنطقٍ
لَطيفٍ خبيراً بالزمانِ تصرّفا
10. His demeanor and words adorned gatherings,
And he possessed the hearts and minds of men through rapport.
١٠. يزين النوادي سمتهُ ومقالهُ
وَيملكُ ألبابَ الرجالِ تألّفا
11. He ascended in pride, dignity, and happiness,
And was excellent in all his affairs and management.
١١. رَقى ما رَقى فخراً وعزّاً وسؤدداً
وأحسنَ في كلّ الأمورِ التصرّفا
12. And he exemplified in all hearts an affection
That clothed him in richness of religion and ample worldly goods.
١٢. وَأثّلَ في كلّ القلوبِ مودّةً
كَستهُ غنى دينٍ ودنيا مفوّفا
13. And from it he saw, since the morning of his passing,
A prayer that rivals sorrow and ardence.
١٣. وَشاهدَ مِنها مِن غداةِ اِنتقالهِ
دُعاءً يُباري حسرةً وتلهّفا
14. So stand, O passerby, around his burial place,
And consider this influence on him as stations.
١٤. فَقِف أيّها المجتازُ حولَ ضريحه
وَحسبكَ ذا التأثيرُ فيه مواقفا
15. And greet him generously, saying and chronicling:
May the rain irrigate the grave of Beyram Mustafa.
١٥. وَحيّي كريماً قائلاً ومؤرّخاً
سَقى القطرُ لحدَ بيرام مصطفى
