1. A spring from your forehead has risen
And shone upon Algeria's horizon

2. Meeting there a fortunate confluence—
An eastern sun whose western counterpart excelled.

3. This one traveled in a fiery sphere,
While the other circled independently.

4. So that one became night, hidden away,
And this dawned, manifest and bright.

5. Though the crescent moon reached high,
It could not match the crown of your supreme brow.

6. And how many paths have you ridden, upon which
The crescent wished it could be but a horseshoe!

7. A happiness immeasurable with any other—
Your return, winner of the exalted goblet.

8. O blessed your intention, which brought time near,
And magnified the goal through it, making it grand.

9. You launched galleys from amid pressured tumult
With resolve loftier than length and superiority.

10. You folded up the barren, bleak expanse,
With a ship glamorously sailing it, flexing.

11. The sea nearly offered up all it contained,
Had the sea only known what it bore!

12. No youth attained a dangerous glory
Without counting sorrow's course as smooth.

13. Yours is the perceptive decision that gleams radiant,
When the hardy, hardened orator spoke and faltered.

14. Clothing eloquent, consummate speech—
Thus both were raiment and sword.

15. A dominion cultivated with patience
As the sword's name polished its steel.

16. And a restraint, grasping resolve's rein—
When the racetracks of glory clarified its course.

17. A nature adorned by a noble character,
Each thereby shaped in its brother's image.

18. The qualities we've seen in no king but you
Have gathered today in collective harmony.

19. Every discerner's insight predicted them
In your graceful, striking appearance.

20. For a matter not lightly undertaken, and sound opinion—
You connected with your aspiration, binding its rope.

21. You observed good faith with a neighbor, as was
Right, its observance rationally and legally great.

22. You made fast affection—a pact
That builds on the duty of peace an extra boon.

23. None of your house was remiss in welcoming you—
In hospitality, lodging and liberality.

24. And your family openly rejoiced
At your banner's marks—theirs is the highest station.

25. Native land and honor were in his heart,
So he joined to them that one's, no less.

26. O what precedence none before,
Of any lineage, has fate granted but you!

27. By God, how excellent the discernment
It smoothed for you, and the nobility!

28. Continuous grew the mutual visitation,
Not least those of the royal house, and ties.

29. The fool unaware will regret his folly,
And know you have not been some simpleton.

30. O wisest of kings in every merit,
And noblest prepared for precedence and trait!

31. Our praise was curtailed—we saw
Its length a defect, and ignorance.

32. Though you came, we spoke no description; but rather
Collected little, as we sang no anthem.

33. Remaining for us and Islam a glory,
Thanking you has the Almighty assumed.

34. Still supported you are with victory,
And might—wherever you tread, tread gloriously!

35. Do not cease your righteous, compassionate grace
To encompass us all in justice and bounty!
