1. My beloved, bestow your bounty, for our time has ripened
And the square of spiritual union has renewed its design

2. A chief has girded his loins in the ministry's house
A newborn in the king's abode goes forward in his swaddling

3. The best of faith hastened at the door of Ibn Muhammad
So what fault can an eye find in him to blame him?

4. I stand in awe of the best of faith—I think him a father,
A most fragrant youth whose mother is the vizier's daughter

5. An aide to the best of faith, the son of Muhammad,
And the past opposed him for graces that concerned him,

6. A crescent whose crescents of breasts swayed in trilling,
Appeared as the fast’s full moon rose to its zenith.

7. Ramadan turned aside from him in happiness—
So its hands never ceased in generosity enveloping him.

8. Its coming racing the advance of spring,
As its totality burst forth from the light of the south winds.

9. Its advent hails him, its greenery breathes
Into him the spirit of growth that fills him.

10. So he never tires, led by God’s shepherding,
Made His lieutenant through a mandate completing him.

11. Still the Caliph’s bliss inclines toward him
And the vizier’s favor persists, perfecting him.

12. Its lines contain no padding, all
Founded on the path of history that traced his design.
