1. What thing resembles the orbits
And competes with their swift motion?

2. It has from them light, form, and order
In course, configuration, and conjunction.

3. We make it move easily on the constellations
And it joins with them in friction.

4. So the slow builds upon the celestial sphere
In its revolution no swiftness.

5. And the swift circles the ocean with twice
What its revolving mansions count.

6. They both traverse the orbit after sunset
And from the pole refuse detachment,

7. With a director, if it revolves, then that
Which you want to see of their two rotations

8. Is eccentric, deferent-carrying, and doubly
Revolving or does the last suffice?
