1. Behold! In the vicinity of God her childbearing was complete
So she looked at Him with yearning eyes and her sorrow departed

2. Verily the hand of fate plucked from her a blossoming flower
Pure in the garden of the glorious, a sapling of high pedigree

3. The virtuous Hilalah, mother of Isma'il, daughter of
The King Husayn - how bitter was her loss!

4. Indeed death gave her a bitter cup to drink
No wonder the bitterness ripped open her soul

5. A maiden who graciously answered God's call
And offered up a soul that worldly desires could not deter

6. Of immaculate character, lofty above vain pride
Though the faith was difficult terrain for her to tread

7. Modest in chastity and propriety
The garb of life her banner through all her days

8. God's good pleasure will console her with hope
While aught besides God will desolate her with despair

9. For seeking His good pleasure was the sum of her endeavor
And from all displeasing Him, she carefully abstained

10. If this grave is graced by her peerless presence
She still walks the royal path though buried here

11. If the plenteous stream of her charity is stanched in this tomb
How many a barren heart were watered by its outpouring!

12. Her sun set swiftly after dawn, leaving behind
A crescent moon of glory whose fullness was not seen

13. Better for those she left behind is their God
And better for her is what awaits her, not her earthly dress

14. Paradise is her reward, sheltering her in its shade
In chambers supported by the Divine foundation

15. She passed on the eve of Friday, the holy month's night
And in this garden tomb her slumber is serene

16. She met her end after childbirth - so rest her soul
