Ask for the lion, ask for the lions of any lair

2. The stars in procession cast their spears before him
A burning brand his advancing host makes its goal ere long

3. The refuge of the standards of war is his standard
And the utmost range of power and victory

4. And his banners give protection to the protected
In their resolve, while narrow affliction lasts for years

5. He who was generous from the cup of horsemen, being an exemplar
He who censured the world, like Khayr al-Din
