1. Fate has decreed all that will come to pass
And Allah, O soul, guarantees your provision

2. Be content with what suffices you and leave what
You are occupied with as if calamities cannot reach you

3. Do you not see the fate of the world and its people?
So work for the day you bid it farewell

4. And know that what you gather is not yours
You are but a treasurer for others, O deluded one

5. O you who build in this world! Do you build an abode
Where no one will live after death comes?

6. Death is something you know to be true
Yet you are heedless when it is mentioned

7. Death does not plot against those it comes to
It neither consults the self nor asks permission
