1. Your father Abu Ali is a man of great distinction
When the generous are counted, you are his son
١. أَبوكَ أَبو عَلِيٍّ ذو عَلاءٍ
إِذا عُدَّ الكِرامُ وَأَنتَ نَجلُه
2. And your father, when traced back to him
Is like a peacock - only its feet are ugly
٢. وَإِنَّ أَباكَ إِذ تُعزى إِلَيهِ
لَكَالطاووس تقبح مِنهُ رِجلُه
