1. We are, by God, confused by your fickleness, O Jarjan, 
My soul is in great perplexity and distress.   
١. نَحنُ وَاللَهِ من هَوائِكَ يا جر
 جانُ في حيرَةٍ وَأَمرٍ شَديدِ
2. Its heat boils the hides; then if a north wind blows,  
It is troubled by stillness and gloom. 
٢. حرُّها يَنضج الجُلود فَإِن هَب
 بَت شَمال تكدَّرَت بِركودِ
3. Like a hypocritical lover who, whenever resolved  
To unite, is deterred by aloofness. 
٣. كَحَبيبٍ منافِقٍ كُلَّما هَم
 مَ بِوَصلٍ أَحالَهُ بِصُدودِ
