يا زائرا سائرا إلى الكوفه

1. O visitor traveling to Kufa
My soul is enamored with the people of the cloak

١. يا زائِراً سائِراً إِلى الكوفَه
نَفسي بِأَهلِ العباءِ مَشغوفَه

2. I have been tempted by the love of the lovely one for a long time
And my soul is preoccupied from what it desires

٢. أُغرى بحُبِّ الغريِّ مُذ زمنٍ
وَالنَفسُ عَمّا تُريدُ مصدوفَه

3. Convey my greetings to her, Ar-Ridha, and say
My doctrine of loyalty is concealed

٣. أَبلِغ سَلامي بِها الرضيَّ وَقُل
عَقيدَتي بِالوَلاءِ مَكنوفَه

4. I stayed in a town whose people
Their origins with the Jews are well known

٤. أَقمتُ في بَلدَةٍ نَواصِبُها
أُصولُها في اليَهودِ مَعروفَه

5. The people of Najaf have become disbelievers
Repugnant to all that is ugly and disdained

٥. ناصِبَة أَصبَحت مناصِبُها
مَقرفَةً لِلقَبيحِ مَقروفَه

6. I defend the family whose beauty
Is like the blossoming of the stars, halted

٦. أذبُّ عن عترةٍ محاسِنُها
بِحَيثُ زَهرِ النُجومِ موقوفَه

7. You are the ropes of certainty that I clung to
Clear proofs of loyalty and devotion

٧. أَنتُم حبالُ اليَقينِ أَعلقها
بيِّنَة في الوَفاءِ مَألوفَه

8. The son of Hind and his people are not nobler
Than the sea foam with its wool

٨. لَيسَ ابنُ هندٍ وَأَهلُهُ اربى
ما بَلَّ بحر بمائِهِ صوفه

9. His nation is the worst nation known
Never ceasing to be laden with punishment

٩. أُمَّتُهُ شَرُّ امَّةٍ عُرِفَت
لا بَرِحَت بِالعَذابِ مَحفوفَه

10. I hope the owner of Heaven will portion me
Homes between which are described

١٠. أَرجو قَسيمَ الجِنانِ يُقسِمُ لي
مَنازِلاً بَينهنَّ موصوفه

11. He will let his Shia drink from the cup of the Prophet
While the faction of disbelievers is blinded

١١. يَسقي بِكَأسِ النَبِيِّ شيعَتهُ
وَفرقَةُ الناصِبينَ مَكفوفَه

12. I sacrifice him, a sun whose light nations
Have been cleansed never to be eclipsed

١٢. أَفديهِ شَمساً ضِياؤُها أمَمٌ
قَد نُزِّهَت أَن تَكون مَكسوفَه

13. I have praise in you, its brides
To you they are always ushered

١٣. لي مِدَحٌ فيكُمُ عرائِسها
اِلَيكُم لا تَزالُ مَزفوفَه

14. How they concealed hatred of his superior merits
Yet they appeared at dawn uncovered

١٤. كَم سَتَروا بغضَةً فَضائِلَهُ
فَأَصبَحت كَالصَباحِ مَكشوفَه

15. And they turned away in sorrow and grief
With souls that are always anguished

١٥. وَاِنصَرِفوا لِلخَبالِ في أَسَفٍ
بِأَنفسٍ ما تَزالُ مَأفوفَه

16. How they reviled him yet he repelled their hands
Fettered by pettiness and stinginess

١٦. كَم طاوَلوه فَرَدَّ أَيدِيَهُم
مَغلولَةً بِالصَغارِ مَكتوفَه

17. They are cattle, say yes, and yes they are
Made to be slaughtered by swords

١٧. هُم بَقَرٌ قُل نَعَم وَهُم نَعَم
قَد جُعِلَت لِلسُّيوفِ مَعلوفَه

18. Say to those who tried to destroy me while tears
Of sorrow never cease flowing

١٨. قَولا لِمَن كادَني وَأَدمُعُهُ
من حَسرَتي لا تَزالُ مَذروفَه

19. That the son of Abbad sought refuge in Him
Who keeps worries away from him

١٩. اِنَّ ابنَ عَبّادٍ استجارَ بِمَن
يَتركُ عَنهُ الهمومَ مَصروفَه

20. In the son of Abu Talib, and that is enough
Of a seeker whose high stature is known

٢٠. بِاِبنِ ابي طالِبٍ وَحَسبُكَ من
طالِبِ وَقرٍ عُلاه مَوصوفَه

21. O Lord, make easy the visit to his tomb
And let me not die in longing for Kufa

٢١. يا رَبّ سَهِّل لِقاء مَشهدهِ
وَلا تُمتِني بِحَسرَةِ الكوفَه
