1. We and the causes of passion once agreed
Like roses and leaves that on one stem feed
١. كُنّا وَأَسبابُ الهَوى مُتَّفِقَه
نَبتاً مِنَ الوَردِ مَعاً في وَرَقَه
2. But now as those causes are parted from me
The earth has become a strangling snare indeed
٢. فَالآنَ اِذ أَسبابُهُ مُفتَرَقَه
قَد صارَت الأَرضُ عَلَينا حَلَقَه
