1. Awaken and be alert, O Arabs
The calamities have become overwhelming

2. Why are you still wishfully thinking
While you are being plundered mercilessly

3. God is the Greatest! What is this slumber?
The cradle has lamented you and the Lord yearns for you

4. How much injustice you endure without complaining
And how much anger you swallow without showing

5. You have become so accustomed to humiliation
That it has become your nature, though part of one's nature can be acquired

6. Your dignity has abandoned you after enduring humiliation for so long
You feel no pain from annihilation or disability

7. God give you patience, if only your patience
Was in the battlefield when the horses jostle

8. How much patience in the morn turns to disgrace by dusk
And how much patience at dawn earns glory at dust

9. So prepare yourselves for the cause and seize
An opportunity from your time, though opportunities are few

10. Do not seek glory for yourselves through wishes
Glory is not truthful unless the striving is truthful

11. Abandon partisanship and unite as one front
For concord and to fend off injustice you band together

12. For you are the majority group, and the lesser group gains victory
When the victorious rallies around it

13. It is he who has weakened your strength with feebleness
And split your unity while creating divisions

14. And unleashed tyranny in your lands until
Its lands became ruins while others’ lands flourish

15. And he installed the foreigner to rule you despite the humiliation
Taking you wherever his whims sway

16. An unknown upstart every morn with no lineage
No religion or manners can be traced

17. And every pervert steeped in vulgarity
Whose diseases of depravity keep festering

18. Their weapon against adversaries is their cunning and lies
Their finest troops are treachery and falsehood

19. No pact remains binding when they tie it
No promise remains valid when they make it

20. If you seek their affection for some reason
You will find no path to their affection save betrayal

21. Right and wrong are weighed by self-interest
And only tilt where gold tilts the scale

22. Your necks are their captives while you
Are left to gamble between blood and shade

23. The destiny of their sheep has lodged between your arms
While others lodged to seek fine fortune

24. Thus, the land’s owner among you is employed on his estate
And the household’s son makes his bread abroad

25. Your blood is not more precious when shed
Than the water they spill lewdly from their lips

26. Your honor is no dearer when violated
Than the honor of their penniless slave who makes his pittance

27. By God, O my people, attend to your affairs
How many verses and speeches call upon you

28. Are you not the ones who conquered the lands and opened
The east and the west, glorified wherever you ventured

29. You who humiliated mighty kings until
The earth quaked from what lies beneath it in terror

30. You who erected for the edifices of glory columns
Which lightning bolts avoid as they strike

31. What has made you into oblivious fools
While the face of your glory wears the mask of disgrace

32. You have no state to bolster your cause
No ally bewails your plight

33. You have no inviolability or mercy
To pity you when calamities assail

34. Your destinies have sunk low in the eyes of the Turks
And your rights are usurped at the hands of the Turks

35. Thus, neither repute, nor prominence, nor presence, no name or title
Can now be traced for you

36. Oh my people, who are none but Arabs
In whose veins that lineage cannot be denied

37. Suppose you lack people of status
To take authority or be given high office

38. Suppose you lack men of wisdom and expertise
For leadership and arbitration in jurisprudence

39. Suppose you lack learned men to arbitrate
In judicial decisions, though yours were the scriptures of old

40. Is there no blood in your veins that seethes with rage
Stirred one day to dispel this dishonor as it bubbles?

41. Let me hear the clear clanking of swords in the scabbards
As I am roused by their pleasant clatter

42. And let me hear the echoes of gunpowder discharged
Reverberating through every ravine as war looms ahead

43. You have nothing left to lose
Save your souls upon which disgrace keeps descending

44. So hasten towards death and find relief through it
From a life filled with weariness and fatigue

45. Have patience - O Turkish nation that has oppressed
For ages - soon the veil shall be lifted

46. We will reclaim our glory by the sword
And the Lord will not disappoint us as we strike

47. And we will leave the Turkish spinsters to mourn
What their hands had reaped while they sniffle and sob

48. He who lives will see days bearing wonders
That unfold before man amazing events
