1. This is the abode of Al-Yaziji, so pause by it
And say, “Peace be upon you, O pillar of guidance.”

2. A sanctuary pilgrims of wisdom always flock to,
Entreating eternal mercy and blessings.

3. It is where the sun of supreme eloquence set,
After rising in the orient’s horizons and shining bright.

4. The pride of Christians, the author of priceless gems
That strike the memory and praise Ahmad.

5. This is the pillar of knowledge by which judgment leaned
And took as a firm, towering pillar of sciences.

6. It faced the sea near a small hill,
The meeting place of two seas and most noble resort.

7. Peace be upon you, O Nasif, the best greeting
That resounds wherever your name circulates!

8. Had the fates been fair to you, they would have changed
Their ways and the time of tribulation.

9. Angels descend around you, pleased,
And early dew rains down upon you.

10. Beautiful is your fortune in the heights―God’s mercy―
Date it and your name in scriptures will live forever!
