1. Stop by the dwelling of our beloved, o messenger
For those are her verses in the valley's bend

2. She pitched her tent on the western hillside
Spreading its ropes without tent pegs

3. Settling down, she only arose for travel
Between packing up and pitching camp again

4. She walks softly like the morning breeze
In a carriage of sunlight led by fate

5. Distance veils her figure so when close
She charms, increasing the rider's fervor

6. The glance steals the sun's sight of her
So the sun without her lurks in ambush

7. Until when she slept in her night
Eyes won a glimpse of her radiant wrist

8. So tell us, may God tend you, of our neighbor
Nay, you are our warrant since birth

9. For we are cut off, no ties between us
No way for greetings or tidings

10. Though no barrier stood, the hands of space
Blocked our meeting with lattices

11. You cannot reach the lightning’s course
Nor can a scout approach your abode

12. But we send illuminating lights
Like the cross’ fire risen over pulpits

13. To guide a symbol back to you
Matching it between increase and decrease

14. Oh would that I knew, are you aware of our place?
Have you men able for venturing?

15. Did they see our luminous train set forth
In their night, between aiming and ascending?

16. Did they establish for us what your fathers
Elevated for you in honor of servants?

17. Your lofty temples stand erect
Their pillars fixed in earth like tent poles

18. They saw you beautiful to be worshipped but erred
For beauty is worshipped by lovers and ascetics

19. Perhaps the earth has this fortune with you
Though had you known it is a land of corruption

20. You are perhaps empty today of its harms
Though we were created equal to matches

21. You are innocent, unaware of wickedness
Where is wickedness from the nature of boys?

22. All have strayed and wandered in their misguidance
No settled among them sees right or reaches the goal

23. And falsehood's banner is raised high among them
While truth's speaker is charged with unbelief

24. Usurpers rise to unlawful works
Their essence unseen by witnesses' eyes

25. Strife grew extreme through generations
And enmities blazed between hearts for ages

26. Has not your evil sufficed, O race of man?
You are set for death again and again

27. You suffer life's toil though it is
Like a heavy necklace on your necks

28. You churn through time's phases
As though it is a spindle in hands

29. You wrestle with capricious fate
Hounding you like a whirlwind

30. You jostle for sustenance in its greed
Crowding with feet and elbows

31. You endure consuming illnesses
And uncounted afflictions

32. Why then are you joyous, some of you
Through plotting against others, O worst joy?

33. Our land is the abode of peace for those
Who desire peace, and of war for foes

34. We are all transitory so cease
Your excess striving after what is enough
