Ibn Ubaid's son Yusuf wept when

1. Ibn Ubaid's son Yusuf wept when
In his exile, he was told of the death of two noble ladies.

2. They were branches of Yusuf's beauty,
Which had withered before the winds of separation.

3. One was named Farwaz, the other Farkad, his sister -
Alas for the loss of the two Farkads!

4. So for them he traced letters
Written with the tears of oppressed eyes.

5. Oh tears, water a grave I have dated
With you, for the withering of the two blossoms.
