1. You wish to live without decline
Like one who hopes to quench thirst from mirage water

2. You seek the impossible but do not see it
Even if you spent your life asking

3. So you build the house of your dignity out of hope
But the foundation is on sand

4. And you want a long life in this world
Yet which living being is without decline?

5. We were created for death, so do not be misled
The life of this world is like a mirage

6. A life whose description is misery and mire
That always takes us back to it

7. If its beginnings were good for us
Its outcome has surely led to ruin

8. This world says with all its commotion
Beware, beware of me and my deeds

9. So do not be fooled by my smiles
For even the lion smiles in fighting

10. My words amuse while my actions make one cry
So my actions and words are not the same

11. O son of Adam, the life you live
Is that of a stranger determined to leave

12. You see in it joy and company
But do not see what is behind the scenes

13. Like a chameleon that changes with every touch
And under fangs lies in wait to pounce

14. Do you think that if dressed in fine garments
You have become prosperous and in good state?

15. It has made kings reside in graves
While once they reigned loftily on high

16. So do not hold high hopes in it
And hang your hopes in God, O you of perfection

17. Take provision of piety from the Merciful
For you are a traveler in every state

18. And leave behind you only remembrance
Like the lingering perfume wafting from the north

19. When a youth grows distressed on earth one day
Remembrance will enliven his non-existent mind

20. It has watered a grave that now holds piety and traits
My Lord has lodged him in a heavy downpour

21. Peace be upon him in whom
Nights have never harmed or wronged

22. And O tomb sheltering the best of men
Of the most praised traits in the morn

23. O rock of righteousness, enjoy in the morn
The meeting of God, your Glorious Lord

24. If the regions have lost you as an individual
You have surpassed the first and the last generations

25. So the angels of heaven rejoiced
When meeting you, beyond wished reunions

26. Our afflictions have benefited whoever assailed us
Such is time, in eras and ages

27. The rain drop laments you but is not
Equal to you in those great deeds

28. When the drop descends it benefits land
But the tears of men are of no avail

29. O rock of faith, why not
Return, even if traveling is ordained?

30. You see the churches appear
When through you they became like mountains

31. You see the poor slammed against
Destitution, for a priest who was as rain in days of ease

32. When the aromatic plants of loftiness sorrow
Its blossoms are the most strictly imprisoned

33. He died in the home of faith on
Thursday as it approached its end

34. People wept for him from near and far
Weeping like clouds and I do not exaggerate

35. And on the next Friday we saw
Him adrift at sea holding on to men

36. They walked around him and we witnessed
Armies with lances bowed around him

37. They came to him at the prayer place so
The angels of heaven met him in good state

38. O abode of faith you have covered a person
Who spent many nights in you

39. Quench your thirst, O tomb sheltering
The best of friends and protectors

40. You have realized, O Lord of Highness
By losing you we lose all perfection

41. And I believe the earth to be an abode
The morning you were lain down as a crescent

42. You were laid to rest and if any garden
Were your place it would pride with glory

43. So it is no wonder that seashells cover you
For within shells, pearls are found
