Neither stinginess nor mercy can detain it

Suddenly the youth surrenders to death, resigned

3. Man and money grow then time takes them away
The cycles of time destroy them, they crumble

4. Like a branch you see flourishing and leafy
When it shook and shed its leaves from their stems

5. So it is with man when his term is prolonged
After him comes generations, layer on layer

6. The wise and praised may lack good intention
After wealth, while the incapable fool grows rich

7. So do not fear poverty befalling us, and wait
For the bounty of Him in whom we trust

8. If what we have perishes, God will provide for us
It is not us, but He who sustains our livelihood
