1. Youth has passed and every intimacy has parted
Youth has vanished along with the motley throng

2. They sought and their Master granted their wish
But your auspicious times refused to linger

3. Gird your loins and invigorate your wealth
For generous deeds are the most profitable wares

4. How is there sadness when Rabī‘ah bin Mukaddam
Leads forth against you fine lads and beauties

5. He being al-Tarīkah in cunning and Ḥārith
Loud rumbler in places of soft sand

6. How many bereft women of family men have they left
Prey for beasts and moaning in desolation
