1. The pillar of the building has become weak one day,
As if broken down and in it despair.
١. أَيرُ عَمّارٍ أَصبَحَ ال
يَومَ رَخواً قَدِ اِنكَسَر
2. Is it out of pain seen in him,
Or from anxiety and boredom?
٢. أَلِداءٍ يُرى بِهِ
أَم مِنَ الهَمِّ وَالضَجَر
3. Or is it taken by surprise, so
Surprises make one sluggish.
٣. أَم بِهِ أُخذَةٌ فَقَد
تُطلِقُ الأُخذَةُ النُشَر
4. If he bent one day or
Old age has bitten him,
٤. فَلَئِن كانَ قَوَّسَ ال
يَومَ أَو عَضَّهُ الكِبَر
5. Still he has lived and enjoyed
The pleasure of vigor.
٥. فَلَقِدماً قَضى وَنا
لَ مِنَ اللَذَّةِ الوَطَر
6. I used to be warned,
Always standing in remembrance.
٦. وَلَقَد كُنتُ مُنعِظاً
أَبَداً قائِمَ الذَكَر
7. And I am today, if I see
Houris with me, I won't prosper.
٧. وَأَنا اليَومَ لَو أَرى ال
حورَ عِندي لَما اِنتَشَر
8. His head has fallen on
His testicles in it falsehood.
٨. ساقِطٌ رَأسُهُ عَلى
خُصيَتَيهِ بِهِ زَوَر
9. Whenever I invited him to
Copulate, to a vulva he stumbled.
٩. كُلَّما سُمتُهُ النُّهو
ضَ إِلى كُوَّةٍ عَثَر
