1. The cup of sorrows boils with enemies
Whose hearts of religion are timid and trembling
١. كَأسُ الخطُوب بذا العدُوّ دِهاقُ
والدين قلبُه واجفٌ خَفّاق
2. The time has come my countrymen, arise
Today the doves' cooing has an afflicted taste
٢. وجَب الدهادُ بني بلادِي فانهَضُوا
أليومَ يعذُبُ للحِمَام مَذَاق
3. The time for jihad has come my countrymen
Let there be from you a race to the battlefield
٣. وجَب الجِهَادُ بني بِلادي فَليكُن
مِنكم لِميدَانِ الجِهادِ سِبَاق
4. The day of battle we yearn like an ardent lover
To quench souls thirsty for the fury of war
٤. يومُ الوغَى نَشتاقُه كَيمَابِه
تُشفَى نفوسٌ للوَغَى تَتشتَاق
5. And when your blood is spilt in the name of jihad
It will be as the blood of Muslims gushing forth
٥. وإذا أُرِيقَت في الجِهاد دِماؤُكُم
فكذَا دماءُ المُسلمين تُرَاق
6. This is the enemy of religion and Islam
Baring fangs and gluttonous jaws
٦. هذا عدُوُّ الدينِ والإسلامِ قد
كشَرت علَى أنيابِه الأشداق
7. Before you he hopes to devour your lands
Never! The taste of Muslims to him is bitter poison
٧. قُدَّامكم يرجُو ابتلاَعَ بلادِكُم
هيهاتَ طعمُ المسلمين زُعَاقُ
8. Wondrous is the German who knows his worth
Yet suckles on the milky teats of India, weak and cringing
٨. عَجَبِي مِن الدُّتشِي يعرِفُ قَدرَه
ويؤُمُّ بيضَ الهِندِ وهى رِقَاقُ
9. If the disease of ignorance has blinded him, how many
Diseases strike those who imbibe poison as remedy
٩. إِن كان دَاءُ الجهلِ أعمَاه فكَم
داءٌ له ضربُ الطِّلاَ تِريَاق
10. Wherever the curse of the vile has settled on a land
Killing and torment quickly befell its people
١٠. ما حلَّ طليانُ الرَّدَى في بَلدةٍ
إلا وحلَّ القتلُ والإِرهَاقُ
11. Wherever the curse of the wretched came to a field
Poverty and misery became widespread
١١. ما حلَّ طليانُ الجِيَاع بِسَاحة
إلا وعمَّ الفقرُ والإملاَق
12. Ask martyred Tripoli what horrors it saw

١٢. فسَلُوا طرابُلُس الشَّهيدةَ إذ رأَت
عمَّا رأت إن سمعُ ذاكَ يُطَاقُ

١٣. لِلَّهِ كَم مِن عَالمٍ سِيمَ الرَّدَى
وَلِرُوحِه التعذِيبُ وَالإِزهَاق
14. Carried upon the clouds were venerable imams
White of beard and luminous of face
١٤. حَملُوا على مَتنِ السَّحابِ أَئِمةً
بِيضَ اللِّحَى لِوُجُوهِهِم إشرَاق
15. They were shown the visage of the dust and tossed aside
Tears streaming from their eyes poured forth
١٥. وأرَوهُمُ وَجهَ الثَّرى ورَمَوا بهِم
والدمعُ مِن أجفَانِهم مُهرَاق
16. And a pure maiden, what calamity, how woeful
That maiden whose deep wound gushed blood
١٦. وفَتاةُ طُهرٍ لَم تَعُد واحسرَتِي
تِلكَ الفَتَاةَ فَجُرحُهَا دَفَّاق
17. Oh what tribulation, oh what horror
To where she was led - the chaste virgin dragged
١٧. يَا للَمُصَاب ويَا لِهَولِهِ إِلى إلَى ال
مَكرُوهِ عَذراءُ العَفَافِ تُسَاق
18. The bellies of mothers slit open over their fetuses
And their portion was conflagration
١٨. بُقِرَت بُطونُ الأمهَاتِ عَلَى أَجِن
نَتِها وكَان نَصِيبَهَا الإِحرَاقُ
19. These are tears and their wellsprings
Ask when have wellsprings held back their water
١٩. هذِي الدُّمُوعُ وَهذِي آمَاقُهَا
فسَلُوا متَى ضَنَّت بهَا الآمَاقُ
20. Some were mutilated in the most gruesome way
While others had their eyes gouged out
٢٠. قد مَثَّلُوا بِالبَعض أَشنعَ مُثلَةٍ
وَالبَعضُ مِنهم تُسمَلُ الأحدَاقُ
21. Do not repeat the history of Andalusia
Let your legacy be but fervent compassion
٢١. تَاريخَ أندلسٍ بِربِّك لاَ تَعُد
ولَيَبقَ منكَ علَى الورَى إشفَاقُ
22. Know that hearts tremble and quake
When you are remembered, their ardent throbbing
٢٢. واعلَم بأنَّ القَلبَ يَخفِقُ عِندَ ذِك
رِك والحزِينُ فُؤَادُه خَفَّاقُ
23. If they thunder or lightening, beware
That thunder and lightening lead you not astray
٢٣. إِن أَرعَدُوا أو أبرَقُوا حَاشا بِأَن
يُغوِيكُم الإِرعَادُ وَالإِبرَاقُ
24. This is harmony and these are its signs
Never failed on the day of meeting are kindred spirits
٢٤. هَذا الوِفَاقُ وهَذِه آيَاتُهُ
مَا خَابَ فِي يَوم اللِّقَاءِ وِفَاقُ
25. My countrymen, the enemy is at your door
To arms, our helper is the Creator
٢٥. أبنِي بِلاَدِي ذَا العَدوُّ بِبَابِكم
هَيَّا بِنا ومُعِينُنا الخَلاَّقُ
