1. May Allah prolong the days of the Caliph,
And make eternal the state of sublime virtue,

2. And maintain his might while perpetuating
The virtues in his noble traits.

3. Your authoritative command has come to me,
And your rule, my master, I shall not repeat,

4. But my master knows best my condition—
Especially on my difficult night.

5. The stars circle around me like Hassan
With powerful, yet tender, glances,

6. And a cup I cannot patiently endure
From the cupbearer though it circles gently.
