1. O kiss I attained in bewilderment
From one with swaying, delicate branches
١. يا قُبلةً نِلتُها على دَهَشٍ
من ذي دلالٍ مُهَفهَفٍ غَنج
2. Whose twisting branches confused the twigs
And the roses pinked his blushing cheeks
٢. قد حيَّر الخِشفَ غُنجُ مُقلتهِ
والوَردُ توريدُ خَدِّه الضَّرج
3. When he bent or stood upright
The branch said to him, you are in distress
٣. إذا تثنِّى أو قام مُعتدلاً
قال له الغُصنُ أنت في حَرَج
4. Beauty divided your twisting, O Abu Al-Qasim
Between languor and sprightliness
٤. قد قسَّمَ الحُسنُ مُقلَتيك أبا القا
سم بين الفُتور والدَّعجِ
5. Tell them both to be gentle with the heart of a youth
Whose insides you folded in ardor
٥. قل لهما يَرفُقا بقلبِ فتىً
طَوَيتَ أحشاءَه على وَهَجِ
6. Without their darkness I'd lack their sickness
The malady of my heart and through them my remedy
٦. فمنهما لاعَدِمتَ ظُلمهما
سُقمُ فؤادي ومنهما فَرَجي
