1. I recalled the days of those who passed away
So tears flowed copiously out of sorrow

2. I repeated their memory in my soul
So that may soften the heart a little

3. I said to myself and reproached it
And the soul refused to be softened

4. Do you forget the traces of those who passed away
And time which we painfully spent

5. And the strike of death and its falling
And the voice of calamity in our affliction

6. Whenever we are faced with an accident
The heart flies in sad horror

7. And the soul does not rest until it is hit
By another iron spear that pierces the bosom

8. Either closely following it
Or feet that almost demolish the body

9. And in every day and night
Calamities with death are within us

10. Either it takes a close one
Whether from the right or from the left

11. When fright leaves a dead one
It saddens us with another, disturbing tranquility

12. And how can one remain as I see
The pillars falling, certainly soon

13. I buried the loved ones and did not lament over them
I poured dust and clay over them

14. They were so dear to their family
And today I am burying them, most cherished indeed

15. The grave has hidden in its enclosure
Dignity, nobility, righteousness and lowly status

16. And companions and family I have parted with
I used to see them as dear companions

17. As if longing of their families for them
Is the yearning of lovers who love yearning

18. And brothers of truth have joined them
I used to be intimate in their company

19. Their homes became desolate after them
I remain remembering them, feeling wretched

20. I see people crying for their dead
While the living are not more lasting than the dead

21. Is not their fate destruction
Even if the people lived for years

22. They will be driven to their day heedlessly
So if you cry for those who passed away

23. Then cry for yourself among the doomed
And cry extensively for yourself

24. If you are crying or forgetting
For the path for you is one

25. The latter will follow the former
And if you are deluded with living

26. Wishing yourself vain hopes
Then visit your graves and look

27. At the resting places of your family and kin
To where they went and what they met

28. And they were like you living in homes
And where are the kings and people of prestige

29. Those you were pleased with or wary of
And where are those who built before us

30. Generations we follow, succeeding generations
I have lived years that are gone

31. Throwing the built from the ruins
One of them turns the palm

32. Into something insignificant
Thirty others similar to it

33. Blessed are You, the Best of Creators
So what can their mouths do

34. When I recall their bodies
The soul diminishes until it becomes insignificant

35. And each met destruction in the same way
And all perished, they are now lifeless
