1. I see men without religion, they have become content
And I do not see them satisfied with life's baser things

2. So do without the religion of kings, just as the kings
Do without religion for the sake of their worldly domains

3. Leave off adorning your world with religion
And work for the day you will be judged by the scales

4. Wearing wool is not for wearing wool’s sake
Nor is shaving your head like madmen

5. This garb belongs to monks in their unkempt state
Can you see it leading to salvation for the reverent?

6. A man may open up a shop for trade
While you opened up shop in the name of religion

7. Among swindlers is a shop with no lock
You buy the money of the poor with religion

8. If you ponder the admonition of Surat Al-Kahf
It would forbid you from deceiving the swindlers

9. And in Surat Al-Tawasin, if you act upon it
You will attain guidance through the clear verses

10. As for what Al-Kahf forbids
Namely hypocrisy and the money of the poor

11. And the other verse of the stories is a deterrent
From the arrogance of the likes of Pharaoh

12. You have made your religion a hawk that hunts for you
Yet the people of hawks do not prosper
