1. I complain to God, not to people, that
I see good morals yet I cannot attain them
١. الى الله أشكو لا الى الناس أنني
أرى صالح الأخلاق لا أستطيعها
2. I see estrangement among brothers and kin
And those of womb relation I never forsook
٢. أرى خلة في إخوة وعشيرة
وذي رحم ما كنت ممن يضيّعها
3. If ability obeyed me with virtues
My Lord's springtime upon them would pour forth its rain
٣. فلو طاوعتني بالمكارم قدرة
لجاد عليها بالنّوال ربيعها
