١. أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِي مِنْكَ أَنْ تَرْحَمَا
وَتَعْصي الْعَوَاذِلَ وَاللُّوَّمَا
2. And eulogize a lover so smitten by you all
He has held a funeral for your abandonment,
٢. وَتَرْثِي لِصَبٍّ بِكُمْ مُغْرَمٌ
أَقَامَ عَلَى هَجْرِكُمْ مَأْتَمَا
3. Who spends his nights when darkness falls
Gazing at the stars and planets,
٣. يَبِيتُ إِذَا جَنَّهُ لَيْلُهُ
يُرَاعِي الْكَوَاكِبَ وَالْأَنْجُمَا
4. What's wrong if this lover has made
Permissible what you have forbidden of union?
٤. وَمَاذَا عَلَى الصَّبِّ لَوْ أَنَّهُ
أَحَلَّ مِنَ الْوَصْلِ مَا حَرَّمَا
