1. My religion refused for me, and my dignity refused
To accept humiliation as a protection from affliction

2. So there is no bending with humiliation for a free soul
To other than Allah, seeking a remedy

3. I spend the night on the mountain, and my soul spends the night
Justifying my poverty with pride

4. And I don't see any shame in living humbly
Nor that virtue belongs to wealth
