1. O calamity of the people, how can caution help
When we knew you spare and leave none

2. Your fingers reaped souls, so they scattered
As flowers are scattered, losing their petals

3. Nothing prevented what they ordained and determined
And before every ordainment in the world, a decree

4. Whoso is edified, turns of fate are edifying
No turns of time, in all, are as admonishing

5. O fervently zealous, how you surprised your ward
Until each heart knew how it crumbles

6. You agonized it and agonized both worlds through it
Even the stars, the sun and the moon agonized

7. You came to protect it, but with your claw
That protection was futile and ineffective

8. You used to cast calamities upon enemies in groups
Today, groups against you came from your Lord

9. Fate used to come apologizing to you
Today, turns of fate apologize about you

10. No thought sparked in him except events lit for him
And others, elucidating and enlightening

11. Had the revolving heaven related its wisdom
All its meteors in it would have been planets

12. Time is two days; one entirely distress
No joy in it, and one partly distress

13. None smiled at days misguided
Except those who cried over days misguiding

14. Ask glorious deeds about him, for they remain
In every heart that keeps his love's vestige

15. Ask the earth why the sun laments
None but it bears news of the mourning

16. O prominently towering, shaken by fate's misfortune
The structure fell; the house, its pillars and stones

17. These cannons and swords speak
In east and west, wailing and moaning

18. About your death, a lightning flashed in Islam
And tears of Islam's children came pouring

19. It preoccupied hearts of people from hot, fevered sorrows
As if the fire of turmoil in them was stoked

20. No news of this wire were treacherous
Even tears betrayed their streaming pearls
