1. To you, my branches, O birds of truths
That the sound of my gardens may be heard at this dawn

2. For no sooner do I see a silent beauty as perfect
Than the most eloquent poetry sparkles with it

3. And the loudest voices of nature thunder
Roaring through the horizons with the beauty of lightning

4. So O Creator of the world, wishes and truths
Let it be known by the people of wishes and truths

5. A person may certainly see the sky and its stars
And the wonders and miracles in the highest

6. And see what you have created throughout the earth
Its farthest west together with its east

7. And see the wondrous proportions you have made
The amazing precise and the harmonious

8. He sees all this while his heart is still and tranquil
Unmoved by sight and glance, a hypocrite’s love

9. Rather, from his arrogance he sees every masterpiece
As trivial, as if he were atop a towering peak

10. But when he sees a beautiful woman, he shudders
And the created feels the awe of the Creator

11. He sees her glance pouring unrestrained into his heart
Undoing whatever connections were between wishes

12. And waves of her beauty submerge him
His heart leaning toward them like boats

13. And fill him with longing that roams his soul
Reverence makes her feel every ardent admirer

14. And leave him in feeling like the soul itself
And in discerning the meaning’s most subtle tastes

15. There he sees in every smile a glow
That illuminates hopes in every gloom

16. There he sees a dawn for his heart’s planet
And countless more stars fluttering over the dawn

17. There the edges of dawn, the dew’s softness
Flowing down, the cascade of abundant bliss

18. There at dawn’s farthest limit the most beautiful horizon
From which he sees the light of God, the fairest dawn

19. By my life, Eve was prudent
And our father Adam unwise

20. He passed away before one eternal hour passed
Concerned only with parting’s cares

21. Wretched at what was decreed for him, downcast
With feeble patience and constrained spirit

22. He failed to seize an hour never to return
And was therein most certain of fleeting time

23. But beautiful Eve quickly thought
Her ideas chasing each other like flashing lightning

24. She saw she had been cold to Adam’s heart
Yet she did not cease in the shade of coquetry and flirtation

25. So when they both left Paradise forever
And Adam returned to her, wrathful and grim

26. With gales of contention raging
And clouds of it bombarding them with lightning

27. And she saw in Paradise’s essence
What they called there the heart’s embrace

28. And when it came time to leave, naked
Except the green garment, without sashes

29. Adam walked complaining to her slowly
But she sealed her mouth, not speaking

30. He was amazed by her silence, though she would not
Be silent about anything conciliatory

31. And he thought her silence was wisdom
That made her understand these obstacles

32. Had she opened her mouth, the angels then
Would have seen theft in it, a crime

33. For Eve had taken the jewel of love
And won a share in love supreme

34. So when Adam saw her smiling
He saw love in its most radiant grace

35. And its beam and magic passed before his eyes
Showing wishes dreams truthful when awake

36. With the first kiss he knew the presence of bliss
And with the last forgot all that came before

37. Thus we see the love of jewels is intrinsic
To all women, counted among creatures

38. And the traces of the jewel of love
Have not ceased to shine in every lover's smile
