1. Behind the clouds' woven veil, the sun is veiled
As the libertine has both privacy and bed

2. And though the beauty hides herself, her beauty
Revolves around lovers wherever they tread

3. Some pains of passion bring sadness
So how when love's causes are rife and widespread

4. In every beauty the lover's thoughts dwell
So passion cannot appease the conscience instead

5. When I glimpse the sun, it's as if
I'm gazing upon my beloved's face instead

13. It matters not if for self great wants are attained
By big or small, revered or misled

14. While the spheres in their orbits still turn
After things, more things come ahead

15. Many a day the sun rose above me
And travelled it in darkness a route never tread

16. I wore revelry's wing and didn't stop
Flapping till I almost lifted high overhead

17. From it passion reaped hours of bliss
Whose winds blow soft and cups overflow widespread

18. A time as though made for joy its abode
Its hours to joys are devoted outspread

19. We pledged to time not to blame it
So its days become graves for woes long since dead

20. A youth's best day is one of revelry
With the innocence of children, though fully grown and matured

21. For life's worries are death to their people
So whoever revels, that is life newly pled
