1. My boon companion, without doubt, is honored
In my presence, whatever he desires he has obtained

2. And I do not say to him, in offering the cup excessively
I will make him drunk to the point of stupor, though he refused

3. Rather I greet him warmly and honor his dignity
And divert the cup from him and give him what he craved

4. And when he sleeps he is not awakened
Nor does he hear anything harmful
