1. How strange is man's ignorance
Cutting short his life without delay

2. I thought of this world as a dwelling
Like some of the dwellings of travelers

3. The course of all creation in it is one
Yet much and little are the same to it

4. I seek much in addition to much
Though if I were content with little, that would suffice me

5. Praise God for heirs! As if
I envied them my place

6. Anxious to equip myself for the house of no return
Seeking my own honor through disgrace

7. Complaining if earth spreads over me
Folding a cheek turned away from me
