1. Be forbearing of harm and adversity
To gain your goal, instruct the generation, O learned one

2. Do not excessively complain, be patient
So people think you are well off

3. Knowledge is not given to one who fears folding
Rather our Lord inspires the patient servant

4. Persevere in studying science
Woe to one who erases folds and wrinkles

5. Do not busy yourself with livelihood, for the Lord
Takes charge of the livelihood of the one who learns

6. And fear God for His religion, being careful
Since the disobedient criminal attains no knowledge

7. Avoid the alluring singers and beautiful ladies
If you go near them you will not be safe from ruin

8. Do not exchange this life for the next, O youth
One who sells light for darkness will regret
