1. They told me, "Wait at the doors of the Sultans,
You will gain prizes that will satisfy for some time."

2. But I said, "My Lord is enough for me, I am content with Him,
And I am not pleased with anything other than knowledge and faith."

3. I neither hope nor fear except my Master,
For He suffices me and delivers me.

4. How can I entrust my affairs to those
Who are unable to manage their own selves, the weakness of the poor?

5. Or how can the love of fleeting things drive me
To be near those whose abodes are the abodes of devils?

6. If I am grieved or if I am happy,
I call upon the One of seeing before the One of opinion.

7. He is the Helper whom nothing makes difficult,
He is the Shaper, whatever the form He wills.

8. If He wills to hasten a matter that was to be delayed,
Or wills to delay it, He delays it for a time.

9. O you who blame, do not excessively blame me,
For I am not one who is saddened by their loss of the world.

10. If my fault is asceticism in their fleeting things,
Then that is a fault of my own self, it does not shame me.
