1. Were it not for my students reaching for glory,
And my soul aspiring to virtues,

2. I would not have been the first to descend
Amongst the armies and crowds,

3. With the towering fortresses,
And the camps and tribes,

4. And death baring its fangs
When the swords clash.

5. I spent all my money
On the means and expenses,

6. I scattered my money in praise,
Gratefully, not superfluously.

7. Not every impassioned praiser,
And eulogizer can equate.

8. Many a times I fought wars,
And many a times I enriched families,

9. Many a times I accepted honor,
That later turned into disgrace.

10. Many a times I led armies,
Eulogizing a praising poet.

11. Ask the tribes and clans,
About my morals and manners,

12. If you inquire about this pride.
I am the ink of war, when the virtuous clash,

13. And I am the orator of the eloquent, when they gather.
I am prepared for every profound address,

14. With its afflictions and burdens.
I am the one called when the brave falter,

15. I am the sword, the helper and lodger.
I am the king, son of a king,

16. Compared to their similar monarchs.
I am the praised and master of the Hashemites,

17. When their tall kings are mentioned.
Who dare contend, take pride, lavish or argue?

18. I plunge into war like a hissing serpent,
A coated lion with lofty shoulders.

19. I have prepared him to meet the champions,
Gushing, narrating, and withering.

20. Supple and towering, bones like joints.
So I was prevented the day of frenzy,

21. To see safety and optional prayers.
He marched against me to receive death, O marcher!

22. And I am the warner to mankind,
When calamities hurry.

23. They were snarling like faces,
Similar savages like charging lions.
