1. Proof of existence is support by confirmation
A conquest more honourable than oneness subdued

2. Though unbelief may veil its scowling face
Faith has raised its banners far unfurled

3. How much has it writhed at injustice and oppression
For making its legitimate cause a failing in the world

4. Has not the raven of the West, alas, poisoned it
So that within it pearls of tears are no longer found

5. Though seeing, in the blindness that has marred its ears, harm
From what has made crosses and bells anew resound

6. And angered that people are persecuted, though it pities them
How then can it hope from God for favour to be found?

7. No burden is heavier than the burden it has shouldered
Which will make it tremble if the Scales of Justice sound

8. It turned not to right but clung to idols and to gods
Not even the learned in holy writ could it confound

9. When they become submissive it listens to them in passion
Deeming that like strings and tunes a sweet music has been found

10. The case bears witness it holds not as true belief
The judgment of both the Bible and the Qur’an found

11. Between pigs and monkeys it remained till faith’s foundations
And pillars were all shattered and crumbled to the ground

12. Propriety's perplexity in comparing its vile nature
Makes exempt from such Asahmah and Luqman far renowned

13. It resembles most the accursed Ashram ever blamable
Most fitting to be recognized for who seeks knowledge sound

14. The Abyssinian slave cannot aspire to its banner
Why then take pride in it O sons of Abysinnia crowned?

15. Their power did not ward off the shame when it collapsed
The morning after glory fell in abasement drowned

16. Truth has nullified all they spoke in calumny
Justice has razed all that they erected grand around

17. Expiation of the age through it is what it has distrained
When were those who reject faith keepers of oaths found?

18. Were the community of divine oneness his brothers
He would not have approved the association of three renowned

19. Yes, and even if one of them in their assembly
For snakes of censure to Adnan suffice as counsel found

20. Far removed from him is the carrion-eating raven, corrupt guide
Full of clerics who summon wrong at the appointed sound

21. He has harmed his sons by harming the servants, so say
Has he been among bands bent in injustice crowned?

22. Unaware that God's sword whose voracious appetite is them
When they are stripped bare, undefiled, on ground unhallowed found

23. If to flee in defeat has been their destruction
Then cease perpetual injustice, tyranny unbound

24. Thus wrongdoing is blameworthy and its consequence
Suffices you what succeeded the tyrants tyranny found

25. All who appraise fate in an instant, consider him so
Until destruction makes his well-being unsound

26. Until famine's emaciation makes his health decline
It led him to seek a degrading possession in Tlemcen found

27. Look at him, seized by God in sorrow
Hear of him, he has betrayed, disgraced, renowned

28. In Wujdah, passion of love the doves above his life
Attacked her so that they were by wrath removed, downed

29. He came to a bare castle which extracted
A spirit whose foulness had spirit and body bound

30. When death saw him bankrupt of propriety
It clothed him in the red blood spilled dishonoured, renowned

31. Even the steed that had protected him
Destroyed him in hate and humiliation drowned

32. A rod that repeated death for him
Did not give him respite like Moses' serpent found

33. His downfall on the hand of my father who gave him life
Was a fate whose bond with him was like a raging lion found

34. Routing from his house was destruction upon them
At the hands of One whose help is like a firm wrist unbound

35. High did he and his son amongst them become
Aspiring through attaining vengeance to rule crowned

36. He seized their zeal and took away their fervour
A kingdom God refused to protect or let command found

37. Origin and branch, their lifetime covered them in rancour
As the winds pound upon the branches and the boughs around

38. I see them driven, their faces visible
Upon the pages of the wall abject, vile hounds

39. Tear them with the son of Abd al-Haqq and rend them
And before it they were not violated by Ibn Zayan found

40. Foreigners in tongue but their relation
Grows to the noblest of Arabs, Qahtan's renown

41. Their steeds' saddles are homelands for them, sufficing is
The glory of the settled steeds' saddles as home ground

42. They cried for Yahya's obedience and victory answered them
From God secretly and openly help was found

43. The winds of death roared from their swords
Routing the transgressing Maghribis, whilst they did resound

44. The Maqil were it not that they acted wisely
None would have survived whether young or life-matured crowned

45. God's prey are the Zanatiyeen, thought as lions
When amongst peers they prey, forefronts are renowned

46. His grandfather gave them positions of kingship
In service of the Al-Hafsi Imam, Abd disciples found

47. They were falcons that swooped down upon cowards
And oft in war eagles screamed as they raced around

48. Soon did the unbelievers surrender and their spoils
Were shared for the present, complete, among all to be found

49. Spreading death east and west in raids, not
Sparing the Most Sacred Sanctuary, honour bound

50. Showing to the captive abjection and obedience found
There what was unrightfully placed in his treasuries

51. The heir to statehood possesses and holds in his surround
The Caliph Umar ibn Al-Farooq's precedence to it

52. To the Mushaf of Two Lights' Uthman is sound
O you whose separation is just, clearly without doubt

53. You have maintained through it, undoubtedly, those faithful found
Though the two matters to them may seem similar

54. The elucidator of this opening sets difference renowned
Doves have flown alarming from the transgressing Maghribis

55. To Egypt and Baghdad tidings spread have been found
How much you strove that they set right but they refused

56. And disobeyed you flagrantly defiance renowned
Profit through them in trade not undertaken

57. With what aroused calamity loss profound
O Caliph of God, support the religion with blood

58. As long as the horizons rose suns and comets crowned
Turn to the returning group with kindliness

59. Safely with rightness and faith again homeward bound
Pull your reins away from Marrakesh in confidence

60. Of success therein to Egypt and Baghdad turn around
Not for nought the family of Job and the relics tell

61. Of Jacob's lineage their might and means are found
Theirs is precedence in their might though you have plucked them

62. Slaying and deposing them their thrones to the ground
With force and strategy forever the enemies

63. Are compelled to annihilate them rabble, outcasts found
God suffices you, not the fleet Persian steeds

64. Swooping with the winds, nor the gallant riders renowned
You have become, wronging the nights, not demanding

65. Erasing their harm with justice and favour bound
You walked the path of truth amongst us, ways not

66. Counted by any enemy who power has found
My knowledge of the House of Abu Hafs informs me

67. In praise of the House of Ibn Hussein high renown
Sincerity of my love for them, not unhappiness to silence it

68. Among them, even if estrangement followed estrangement found
Perhaps intercession of the heir apparent will grant me

69. To regain from favour what separates, makes distant, renowned
They are the nucleus of honour whose number

70. Has surpassed the seduced, enchantments abound
He is the blessed among them, auspiciousness and gleam

71. And conduct towards subjects most gentle hands unbound
I have well-wishing messengers of my words for them

72. Whom no censure of the path nor travellers surround
A prayer You see though not the pride of artifice

73. As the bouquet its perfumer Al-Busiti compounds
Poetry refuses me but adornment I confer on it

74. Ninety verses I read in reading
When need for generosity knocked upon my threshold found

75. I swore I would declaim them, not create while I remain
If oath-breaking does not sully them, treachery renowned

76. I will not be pleased in composition praising
Rather I seek intensity and exertion compound

77. If I am munificent, their good fortune never ceased
To bestow, guide to enlightenment, wisdom to expound

78. If I fall short no blame belongs to one who strives
The steed stumbles when the course is stretched long on the ground

79. Congratulations, congratulations O King of Kings for it
Opening of openings, and glad tidings to be found

80. By God, the discerning in insight are in doubt
Of its title page being the Book of Success crowned

81. Joy has adorned its dedication appearing
Brilliant, dazzling minds and thoughts abound

82. Fate chose it, glad tidings in its secrets
Donning the garb of bliss, adorned and renowned

83. Your Master, supporter of a Sultan who protected you
While you are our supporter in truth and loyalty bound
