1. For the example of Mustafa's sandal I purify my love,
And I see deviation as a sin that will not be forgiven.

2. And when I shake his hand and wipe the sinner,
I honor its pillars, esteeming and revering.

3. The secret of my pride in my open humility
For his glory has left a trace in my heart.

4. If that example has defied me, for long has
The beloved's phantom defied as it wondered about.

5. I have a model among lovers and their quest
For kissing the tresses of their loved ones in remembrance.

6. And their crying over those covenants gone astray
Under the darkness for love gathered.

7. Shall I not rub my old age in it rightly guided
And shed my tears amidst it seeing clearly?

8. Trusting to enrich myself with virtues in
My passion for the sandal, better than what the ground has trod.
