1. We die for this world, so we live without faith,
Led by desire into degradation and disgrace.
١. نَمُوتُ عَلى الدّنْيا فَنَحْيا بِلا دِينِ
هَوىً لِهَوَانٍ قَادَنَا وَلِتَوْهِينِ
2. Alas for us! This world is for the downtrodden.
The wretched ones graze here for a little while.
٢. وَهَلْ هِيَ إِلا لِلْمَساكِينِ وَيْحَنا
مَسَاكِينَ فيهَا يَرْتَعُونَ إلَى حينِ
3. Why do we not fear God, our Lord,
And call on Him to improve our fate and fortify our state?
٣. فَما بَالُنا لا نَتَّقِي اللَّهَ رَبَّنا
وَنَدْعُوهُ في تَحْسينِ عُقْبى وَتَحْصينِ
